Santa baby,Santa Songs,Lyrics of Eartha Kitt: The man in the cubicle next to me claims Jesus is his buddy and that Jesus helps him pick out what tie to wear each day and what route he should take to work. I am amazed Jesus has the time to deal with such trivial matters, but what do I know? I am not saved much less deposited. I am not even an account receivable.
He enjoys listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing traditional Christmas carols. In fact, he often plays them over his computer so the rest of us can, uh, enjoy them. When this happens, I feel it is only appropriate that I play some music I like so he can, well, uh, enjoy my music, too.
My favorite song to crank up is Santa Baby by Madonna.
For some reason this song drives him totally insane. I have no idea why. But if it makes him leave for a while, well, good. As soon as he steps back, I play it again. He seems to think the song is somehow offensive. I suggested he take it up with his buddy the next time they go out and have hamburgers, fries and soda.
Seriously the song was made famous in 1953 by Eartha Kitts. Looking at the promotional material for this song it must have been beyond scandalous in the early 1950s.
A lot of people believe Marilyn Monroe recorded this song. She never did.
So here's to Eartha Kitts and a truly wonderful Christmas song that captures the essence of the season.
