Terrelle Pryoris Suspended From the First (5) Games of (2011)

Terrelle Pryoris Suspended From the First (5) Games of (2011): Ohio State just announced that QB Terrelle Pryor and four teammates have been suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season as a result of “tattoogate.” The other players suspended are RB Dan Herron, OL Mike Adams, WR DeVier Posey, and DL Solomon Thomas. These being some of the most high-profile Buckeyes, one wonders – will they bother to stick around to play half a season, or just bolt to the NFL early?

Ohio State’s early 2011 schedule includes Akron, Toledo, Miami, Colorado and Michigan State. [UPDATE: ESPN's Joe Schad reports in exchange for tattoos, Pryor sold "sold his Big Ten ring, a sportsmanship award and gold pants award." Sounds like a guy who may not be sticking around Columbus. Here's the entire release.]

Bianca Kajlich Taking Divorce

Bianca Kajlich Taking Divorce: Landon Donovan Separated from his actress wife Bianca Kajlich for more than a year, U.S. soccer star Landon Donovan has filed for divorce to end the union.

The World Cup hero filed the papers Tuesday.

"We remain the closest of friends and will always be important parts of each other's lives," the pair said Tuesday in a joint statement.
The couple separated in October 2009, but numerous reports surfaced they were possibly reconciling after the World Cup this summer.

Fays later, Donovan faced rumors that he had fathered a love child with an unidentified British woman, but that turned out to be false.

He said Kajlich was aware of the rumor and it would not hurt his attempt to reconcile with her. Then they attended the ESPYs in July.

It was not to be, however. Citing irreconcilable differences, Donovan is seeking spousal support, as well as legal fees from his wife.

Cipha Sounds and Music,|Wiki,Comedy Show: After comments directed toward the Haitian community and the HIV epidemic, Hot 97 has decided to suspend popular on-air personality DJ Cipha Sounds effective immediately. Second, Cipha will immediately undertake sensitivity training focused on the Haitian community and specifically, the challenges the Haitian community (specifically women) has faced in terms of the HIV epidemic.

Charlamagne Tha God from power105′s BreakfastClub Morning Show decided to address the controversy. He even drove home some worthwhile points. Never should HIV jokes be made, especially when considering the fact the well over 200,000 Haitians lost their lives because of that devastating earthquake.

Charlamagne also addressed Peter Rosenberg, his “bitchassness” comment on Twitter and the apparent overall lack of compassion he showed after Haitians protested in front of Hot 97.

Michael Phelps Height and Wingspan, his Bio,Wiki and Pics

Michael Phelps Height and Wingspan, his Bio,Wiki and Pics: Everyone who plays sports has dreams. Many involve winning championships, collecting medals, and playing the sport at the highest level. For most, however, the dream ends without being fulfilled, often after high school or college. Adam Powell, a senior on the men’s swimming and diving team, isn’t ready to let his dreams slip away without a fight. Powell is planning on taking a year off after graduation to attempt to qualify for the 2012 Olympics in the 50 meter freestyle.

If you’ve walked around Morningside Heights, you probably recognize the name Adam Powell. Powell’s grandfather was Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., a former New York City congressman whose name graces Seventh Avenue north of Central Park.

Powell has been carving out quite a name for himself at Columbia as well, and has already etched himself into Columbia swimming history. Powell is the school record holder in the 50 free (19.72 seconds) and 100 free (43.91 seconds) and is part of the school-record holding 200 medley team (1:29.81 minutes). Powell qualified for the NCAA Championship in the spring for the 50 free with the 18th fastest time in the nation, but failed to make it out of the preliminaries.

Powell has been swimming since he was a child, although it’s fair to say the Olympic Trials were not always on his mind.

“When I was seven, I joined the town team,” said Powell, who hails from Pound Ridge, N.Y. “The town summer swim team was the cool thing to do.”

“I joined because it was an extracurricular activity,” Powell said. “I usually went to the same park for summer camp, so now I went to camp and had practice afterward.”

Powell enjoyed the sport and joined his first club team that fall when he was eight years old. But despite his fondness of the water, Powell didn’t swim competitively over the summer even though swimming is a year-round sport at the highest levels.

Powell continued to swim and was on his high school’s swim team, but club teams provided the most competition and training for him as he got older and better.

“It’s all about the club team,” Powell said. “High school plays a part, but swimming consumes your life long before high school.”

Powell was always a good swimmer but didn’t start to show his true potential until his sophomore year of high school.

“Before that, I just liked to swim,” said Powell. “At the end of my sophomore year I grew. I was always a tall kid, when I was a freshman I came in at like 6’1 but I grew to 6’5. That combined with hitting puberty and gaining muscle played a big part.”

As Powell improved, swimming became a bigger and bigger part of his daily life.

“Swimming became my exclusive focus and I started to take training more seriously,” Powell said.

It was around this time that he made a change that would change the trajectory of his career.

“I started as a backstroker, but I started to swim freestyle around then,” said Powell.

As he blossomed, Powell set his sights on swimming competitively in college, and colleges set their sights on having him swim for their teams.

“Over 75 coaches called,” Powell said. “It was almost every other night.”

But there was one group of schools in particular that were intrigued by Powell and his potential.

“July 1 before your senior year is the first day to call, and the first two schools to call me were Harvard and Princeton.”

Columbia wasn’t far behind, and Powell was drawn to Morningside Heights for a number of different reasons.

“I liked the fact that it was in the city and that it was close to home,” said Powell, who was ultimately deciding between Columbia and powerhouse Virginia. “I chose Columbia because I thought I could accomplish the same goals in swimming and academics at Columbia, and I felt I wouldn’t have to sacrifice anything.”

Powell, who swims the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 backstroke, had a strong sophomore campaign, breaking the 50 free record, and then breaking it twice more that year.

Powell’s junior year was even better, and was spurred in part due to an increased training regimen over the summer.

“I made changes between sophomore and junior year,” Powell said. “I started swimming year-round and I saw the improvement right away. I saw the benefits of full time training.”

Powell’s improvement since he stepped foot on campus was also noticed by his head coach Jim Bolster.

“Adam’s improvement since he arrived on campus as a freshman has been steady and significant,” the head coach said. “The most obvious improvement is the amount of time he has dropped in his three events, but I believe he has made even greater strides in his approach to swimming.”

Of these changes, Bolster said, “In high school Adam could just show up and win. He did not train much nor did he spend any extra time other than the 20 plus seconds it took him to swim his race thinking about swimming. He knew he was fast and that he would win and he was comfortable with that. In college I think Adam has come to realize that his natural skills only take him so far; if he wants to win at the highest levels he must train and think at the highest levels. As a result his attitude towards training and his training habits, his weight room routine, his nutritional practices, and his understanding of the need for a year-round perspective have all contributed significantly to his time improvements.”

Powell broke the school record for the 100 free as a junior, and went undefeated in the 100 free and 50 free all year. Powell was the Ivy champion in both events. Powell was also named to the Mid-Major all-America first team once, the first-team all-Ivy twice, and led the swimming and diving team to a third place finish in the Ivy League—the team’s best finish in years.

Powell has gotten off to another strong start this year, as he is undefeated in both the 50 and 100 free, and set pool records in the two events earlier this year. Powell won three events this past weekend at the Big Al Invitational, including another victory in the 100 free where he won easily with a time of 43.77 seconds. Powell also won the 50 free and the 100 backstroke.

Powell has set his sights firmly on the Olympic trials for the London 2012 games, despite the fact that he has never been to an Olympic trial—having missed the cutoff for the 2008 games by two-tenths of a second.

“First off, it’s the year after I graduate, and I would be doing a disservice by not going after it for one more year,” said Powell when asked of his motivation. “Secondly, I think I have a legit shot at making the team. And finally, I’ve never had a full year to focus exclusively on swimming.”

Powell will train at Columbia after the swimming and diving season ends in March, and will then train out of his home.

“I met a coach during my sophomore year, and I’ll train with him in Rockland, N.Y.,” Powell said.

In the meantime, coach Bolster is fully supportive of Powell’s lofty goals. “We think Adam’s Olympic aspirations are great and a natural outcome of all the improvements he has made since arriving on campus,” Bolster said. “To make Olympic trials he will have to continue to work hard acclimating to swimming meters. The longer pool puts a premium on technique over power and Adam does not have a great deal of meter/long course training and racing experience.”

“The quality that makes Adam one of the best Ivy swimmers is his insatiable desire to be the best/fastest,” continued Bolster. “Adam likes speed! He likes it when people talk about someone being ‘the fastest.’ Right now he is the fastest in the Ivy League, but Adam will not be satisfied until he owns that moniker at the national level. If he wins a national title he will put his name in the conversation for an Olympic team spot.”

When it comes to Olympic swimming, however, there is only one name that comes to mind: Michael Phelps.

“He sheds a lot of light on our sport,” Powell said. “That goes without saying.”

But Phelps had publicly expressed a desire to become a sprinter for the 2012 Olympics. Will Powell have to face off with Phelps for a spot on the team?

“Thankfully, he doesn’t swim the 50 free,” Powell said. “I don’t think the 50 is something he would do, I think the 100 is.”

No matter what happens in the future, Powell has found his passion in the pool.

“The 50 free is the reason why I swim,” he said. “It’s a short burst of adrenaline, two laps, 20 seconds. All-out max effort. I like the idea of going fast, generating the most power and speed.”

If Powell’s speed measures up in the years to come, he may just be walking in the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Olympic games.

Zack greinke Contracts his Bio,Wiki

Zack greinke Contracts his Bio,Wiki: Peter Gammons of the MLB Network indicates (via Twitter) that a player to be named later, rather than Jeffress, is heading to Kansas City. Escobar, Cain, and Odorizzi are still involved in the deal. SI.com's Jon Heyman confirms the names, noting that the trade just requires physicals and Bud Selig's approval, because of the money involved (Twitter links). Heyman adds (via Twitter) that the Royals were close to an agreement with Washington, but Greinke told the team he wouldn't accept a deal to the Nationals, who were on his no-trade list.

7:30am: The Brewers acquired ace righty Zack Greinke from the Royals, confirms ESPN's Buster Olney.  Milwaukee will reportedly send shortstop Alcides Escobar, center fielder Lorenzo Cain, and pitching prospects Jeremy Jeffress and Jake Odorizzi to the Royals for Greinke, shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt, and $2MM.  Credit Jim Breen of Bernie's Crew with the scoop last night, with an assist to Andrew Wagner of OnMilwaukee.com.

Greinke, 27, had been one of the winter's most discussed trade candidates, with rumors picking up steam after the right-hander requested a trade earlier this weekend. Although many clubs reportedly inquired on and pursued the Royals ace, a trade was no sure thing, due to Greinke's no-trade clause and the Royals' high asking price. However, neither issue ultimately proved to be an obstacle for the Brewers, who had made repeated attempts to acquire the righty despite being on his no-trade list, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (Twitter links).

During his time in Kansas City, Greinke posted a 3.82 ERA in 1108 innings, including a 3.25 ERA and 8.4 K/9 over the last three years. Prior to his Cy Young campaign in 2009, Greinke signed a four-year extension, meaning he'll remain under Milwaukee's control for two more seasons, at a cost of $13.5MM per year.

Escobar, who turned 24 earlier this week, was viewed by Baseball America as the Brewers' top prospect heading into the 2010 season, his first full year in the bigs. Although he struggled at the plate, hitting .235/.288/.326 in 552 plate appearances, Escobar provided above-average defense at shortstop, according to UZR. Baseball America's scouting report prior to the season dubbed Escobar a "defensive whiz" and a "special defender," while also citing a hope that he'd develop into a solid leadoff option. The 24-year-old's minor league numbers (.293/.333/.377, 176 SB) indicate that his offensive game should continue to improve at the major league level.

Cain, 24, was considered one of the Brewers' top 10 prospects even before a hugely successful 2010 campaign. After hitting .317/.402/.432 across two minor league levels, Cain received his first shot at the bigs, and posted a .306/.348/.415 slash line in 148 plate appearances in Milwaukee. Like Escobar, Cain's primary strengths are his speed and athleticism. Baseball America suggested before the 2010 season that he "could be a more prolific and successful basestealer," and Cain responded by stealing 33 bases in 37 attempts between the minors and majors. According to Baseball America, the former 17th-round pick shows "flashes of power but is mostly a gap hitter."

Both pitching prospects heading to Kansas City are former first round picks; the Brewers selected Jeffress with the 16th overall pick in the 2006 draft, while Odorizzi was taken 32nd overall in 2008. Jeffress' path to the bigs has been sidetracked by repeated suspensions for substance abuse. His most recent violation resulted in a 100-game ban that saw him miss significant chunks of the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Jeffress' fastball has touched 100 mph and Baseball America raved that he had "as much sheer talent" as any player in the Brewers' system heading into this season, but his off-field issues and control problems (5.5 BB/9 in his minor league career) had slowed his development.

Odorizzi, meanwhile, was rated by some teams as the best high school pitcher in the 2008 draft, according to Baseball America. Just 20 years old, Odorizzi is the only player in the deal who has yet to see major league action, but he turned in an impressive year at Class A Wisconsin, recording a 3.43 ERA and 10.1 K/9 in 120 2/3 innings. ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick notes in a tweet that the two right-handers were ranked first (Odorizzi) and third (Jeffress) in Milwaukee's system in Baseball America's upcoming Prospect Handbook.

The move represents the second major pitching acquisition of the winter for the Brewers, who previously traded top prospect Brett Lawrie to the Blue Jays for Shaun Marcum. The Brewers had long indicated a desire to shore up a starting rotation whose 4.65 ERA ranked near the bottom of the National League in 2010. Moving a handful of young players in the two trades, while hanging on to Prince Fielder, suggests that the club feels they can immediately contend in the NL Central.

Gilbert Arenas| Bio| Wiki| Fake injury

Gilbert Arenas| Bio| Wiki| Fake injury: Hedo Turkoglu could return to the Orlando Magic as a part of a massive three-team trade that would also send Gilbert Arenas to Orlando and Vince Carter, Rashard Lewis or both out of town, according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports. It is unclear what the Washington Wizards or Phoenix Suns would receive in the trade, though Berger reports that Magic center Marcin Gortat would definitely change addresses. Due to the huge salaries of Arenas and Turkoglu, it would appear likely that the Magic would need to lose both Lewis and Carter.
SB Nation blog Orlando Pinstriped Post first reported that the Magic were interested in a Gilbert Arenas trade back on Dec. 1. The rumor cooled down until Friday, when OPP and other outlets began to report that a Magic and Wizards trade was imminent.

Turkoglu, who helped lead the Magic to the 2009 NBA Finals before signing a five-year, $52.8 million contract with the Raptors, was traded to the Suns this offseason as Toronto tried to escape from a mistake. Apparently and not surprisingly, the Suns are now in the same position of wanting to excise Turkoglu from the payroll. Hedo was successful in Orlando and played the best basketball of his career in a Magic jersey. But his performance had fallen off by 2009 (despite the deep playoff run), and Orlando demurred on a big long-term contract for a reason.

What the Suns would receive in such a trade remains unclear, though Gortat, perhaps the best back-up center in the NBA, would make perfect sense given Phoenix's defensive void at the position. A report from OPP late Friday has Rashard Lewis traded in a potential Arenas deal; the Magic have a few players with smaller contracts that could allow a deal to go through involving just Turkoglu, Arenas, Lewis and Gortat as the principal talents of note.

Charla Nash Transplant |Charla nash| Bio| Wiki: Charla Nash is the woman that was attacked dreadfully by a chimpanzee in February 2009 in Stamford Connecticut. The chimpanzee was the pet of her friend. She has been released now from the Cleveland Ohio treatment center. She was receiving treatment there since she was attacked by the animal.
She will now live in a support living place that is close to Boston, Massachusetts. On Friday the legal representative of her family confirmed that Charla was released from the clinic on Thursday. She was taken to the area of Boston then by travelling through a private jet.

Over the period of 18 months she was treated by a team of many doctors. Firstly when she was taken to the clinic she was listed in serious however secure situation. Her hands, scalp and face were badly damaged. Her face was so deficiently blemished that she had to wear a veil when she was in the hospice.

Afterwards she also lost her eyes due to a disease and she will now not be able to see anything. The official of the clinic said that she was freed from the clinic following the important improvements she made. She is really a brave woman as she fought well with that worst happening.

Bill Monaco the legal representative told that she will now learn the skills that she requires to carry on living her life and she is looking to undergo a reconstructive surgical procedure. When she was attacked by the animal the police officer came on the scene and he said after looking her that he was not sure if she was a human being. We pray that she recovers quickly and becomes able to live her life safely.

Amelia earhart on Nikumaroro island| Bio| Wiki

Amelia earhart on Nikumaroro island| Bio| Wiki: NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — The three bone fragments turned up on a deserted South Pacific island that lay along the course Amelia Earhart was following when she vanished. Nearby were several tantalizing artifacts: some old makeup, some glass bottles and shells that had been cut open.

Now scientists at the University of Oklahoma hope to extract DNA from the tiny bone chips in tests that could prove Earhart died as a castaway after failing in her 1937 quest to become the first woman to fly around the world.

"There's no guarantee," said Ric Gillespie, director of the International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery, a group of aviation enthusiasts in Delaware that found the pieces of bone this year while on an expedition to Nikumaroro Island, about 1,800 miles south of Hawaii.

"You only have to say you have a bone that may be human and may be linked to Earhart and people get excited. But it is true that, if they can get DNA, and if they can match it to Amelia Earhart's DNA, that's pretty good."

It could be months before scientists know for sure — and it could turn out the bones are from a turtle. The fragments were found near a hollowed-out turtle shell that might have been used to collect rain water, but there were no other turtle parts nearby.

Earhart's disappearance on July 2, 1937, remains one of the 20th century's most enduring mysteries. Did she run out of fuel and crash at sea? Did her Lockheed Electra develop engine trouble? Did she spot the island from the sky and attempt to land on a nearby reef?

"What were her last moments like? What was she doing? What happened?" asked Robin Jensen, an associate professor of communications at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., who has studied Earhart's writings and speeches.

Since 1989, Gillespie's group has made 10 trips to the island, trying each time to find clues that might help determine the fate of Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan.

Last spring, volunteers working at what seemed to be an abandoned campsite found one piece of bone that appeared to be from a neck and another unknown fragment dissimilar to bird or fish bones. A third fragment might be from a finger. The largest of the pieces is just over an inch long.

The area was near a site where native work crews found skeletal remains in 1940. Bird and fish carcasses suggested Westerners had prepared meals there.

"This site tells the story of how someone or some people attempted to live as castaways," Gillespie said Friday in an interview with The Associated Press. "These fish weren't eaten like Pacific Islanders" eat fish.

Millions of dollars have been spent in failed attempts to learn what happened to Earhart, a Kansas native declared dead by a California court in early 1939.

The official version says Earhart and Noonan ran out of fuel and crashed at sea while flying from Lae, New Guinea, to Howland Island, which had a landing strip and fuel.

Gillespie's book "Finding Amelia: The True Story of the Earhart Disappearance," and "Amelia Earhart's Shoes," written by four volunteers from the aircraft group, suggest the pair landed on the reef and survived, perhaps for months, on scant food and rainwater.

Gillespie, a pilot, said the aviator would have needed only about 700 feet of unobstructed space to land because her plane would have been traveling only about 55 mph at touchdown.

"It looks like she could have landed successfully on the reef surrounding the island. It's very flat and smooth," Gillespie said. "At low tide, it looks like this place is surrounded by a parking lot."

However, Gillespie said, the plane, even if it landed safely, would have been slowly dragged into the sea by the tides. The waters off the reef are 1,000 to 2,000 feet deep. His group needs $3 million to $5 million for a deep-sea dive.

The island is on the course Earhart planned to follow from Lae, New Guinea, to Howland Island, which had a landing strip and fuel. Over the last seven decades, searches of the remote atoll have been inconclusive.

After the latest find, anthropologists who had previously worked with Gillespie's group suggested that he send the bones to the University of Oklahoma's Molecular Anthropology Laboratory, which has experience extracting genetic material from old bones. Gillespie's group also has a genetic sample from an Earhart female relative for comparison with the bones.

The lab is looking for mitochondrial DNA, which is passed along only through females, so there is no need to have a Noonan sample.

Cecil Lewis, an assistant professor of anthropology at the lab, said the university received a little more than a gram of bone fragments about two weeks ago. If researchers are able to extract DNA and link it to Earhart, a sample would be sent to another lab for verification.

"Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. That's why we're trying to downplay a lot of the media attention right now," Lewis said. "For all we know, this is just a turtle bone, and a lot of people are going to be very disheartened."

Under the best circumstances, the analysis would take two weeks. If scientists have trouble with the sample, that time frame could stretch into months, Lewis said.

"Ancient DNA is incredibly unpredictable," he said.

Other material recovered this year also suggested the presence of Westerners at the isolated island site:

— Someone carried shells ashore before cutting them open and slicing out the meat. Islanders cut the meat out at sea.

— Bottles found nearby were melted on the bottom, suggesting they had been put into a fire, possibly to boil water. (A Coast Guard unit on the island during World War II would have had no need to boil water.)

— Bits of makeup were found. The group is checking to see which products Earhart endorsed and whether an inventory lists specific types of makeup carried on her final trip.

— A glass bottle with remnants of lanolin and oil, possibly hand lotion.

In 2007, the group found a piece of a pocket knife but didn't know whether it was left by the Coast Guard or castaways. This year, it found the shattered remains of the knife, suggesting someone had smashed it to extract the blades. Gillespie speculated a castaway used a blade to make a spear to stab shallow-water fish like those found at the campsite.

Following Earhart's disappearance, distress signals picked up by distant ships pointed back to the area of Nikumaroro Island, but while pilots passing over saw signs of recent habitation, the island was crossed off the list as having been searched, Gillespie said.

In 1940, a British overseer on the island recovered a partial human skeleton, a woman's shoe and an empty sextant box at what appeared to be a former campsite, littered with turtle, clamshell and bird remains.

Thinking of Earhart, the overseer sent the items to Fiji, where a British doctor decided they belonged to a stocky European or mixed-blood male, ruling out any Earhart connection.

The bones later vanished, but in 1998, Gillespie's group located the doctor's notes in London. Two other forensic specialists reviewed the doctor's bone measurements and agreed they were more "consistent with" a female of northern European descent, about Earhart's age and height.

On their own visits to the island, volunteers recovered an aluminum panel that could be from an Electra, another piece of a woman's shoe and a "cat's paw" heel dating from the 1930s; another shoe heel, possibly a man's, and an oddly cut piece of clear Plexiglas.

The sextant box might have been Noonan's. The woman's shoe and heel resemble a blucher-style oxford seen in a pre-takeoff photo of Earhart. The plastic shard is the exact thickness and curvature of an Electra's side window.

The body of evidence is intriguing, but Gillespie insists the team is "constantly agonizing over whether we are being dragged down a path that isn't right."

On christmas Pineapple Express| wiki| Megavideo

On christmas Pineapple Express| wiki| Megavideo: It’s not yet Christmas, but the weather outside is going to be frightful over the next several days, according to the National Weather Service.

A low-pressure area moving down the coast will channel waves of tropical moisture directly at the central portion of the state with rain expected to start today and last well into next week.

That means the Pineapple Express will be hitting the state and its first stop is the Central Coast.

“It’s like an open door policy: ‘Come on in.’ We’re looking for rain through Wednesday,” said weather service spokesman Bill Hoffer.

That door could remain open enough to dampen outside Christmas plans. The long-term forecast shows a break in the rain on Christmas Eve with more precipitation possible on Christmas Day.

Weather experts are divided on how much rain will fall on the area over the next week, but they all agree we’re going to get wet for several days.

The system is expected to deliver a one-two punch to the state beginning today with the heaviest rain expected Saturday and Sunday, then again Tuesday and Wednesday. Both storms are expected to bring from 1 to 2 inches of rain to coastal areas and 2 to

4 inches to the foothills and mountains.

Once the rain starts to fall, the only lasting break appears to be Monday, said

Accuweather.com meteorologist Eric Leister.

“It looks like a pretty good washout over the next six days,” Leister said. “There’s definitely going to be a threat of flooding and mudslides come the end of the weekend.”

The Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Operations has opened its sand bag locations in anticipation of the storm.

“The burn areas will increase the risk of flooding for a few years after the actual fires,” said county Deputy Director of Public Works Tom Fayram. “Last winter, we had a couple of big storms and our preparation paid off. However, the risk remains real and people need to stay tuned during heavier rains to their local media stations and emergency officials.”

Temperatures and winds associated with the storm are expected to be mild, according to the weather service. Daytime highs are expected in the upper 50s with nighttime lows in the upper

30s and low 40s depending on location.

Winds are expected to vary between 15 and 25 mph with occasional gusts possible to 35 mph during the heaviest portions of the storm.

Leister said the relatively warm air temperatures should take snow levels above 9,000 feet, which should leave coastal mountain passes clear.

Experts say exactly where the brunt of the storm hits the California coast still is up in the air, but the first punch on the weekend will be the hay-maker.

“It looks like the worst of the rain will be Saturday and Sunday,” Leister said. “Tuesday will deliver another round of rain, not particularly heavy, but another good, soaking rain.”

villanova shedule of 2010| Villanova football

villanova shedule of 2010| Villanova football: The Villanova Wildcats quest to repeat as FCS champions fell short tonight with a 41-31 loss to Eastern Washington. Villanova had traveled upwards of 12,000 miles over the past three weeks of playoffs with trips to Steven F Austin in Texans, Appalachian St in North Carolina, and tonight to Eastern Washington. Players were literally taking final exams last night in their hotel. So it was a brutally tough road for the defending champs and one that ultimately fell just a game short of the FCS title game.
Matt Szczur was not the dominating presence he was last week, recording only 36 yards rushing, 25 yards receiving and one TD. Against Appalachian St he accounted for 5 of the Wildcats 6 TDs. Villanova struggled at times to find offense elsewhere. QB Chris Whitney did run two TDs in himself, but also threw two picks and managed just 95 yards through the air.

The Villanova defense that was so good at frustrating Appalachian last week, was lit up this week by Eastern Washington QB Bo Levi Mitchell, who threw for 292 yards and 4 TDs including one 76 yard TD to WR Brandon Kaufman.

Eastern Washington plays the winner of the Georgia Southern vs Delaware game tomorrow afternoon. For Villanova, their next decision is to decide whether they even want to stay in the FCS. They’ve currently got an offer on the table to join the Big East for football, which would move them up from 1-AA to the top tier of college football. The university is still evaluating whether to make the move or not.
